TOPSHOP has landed

After many rumors & a long wait this year, it's finally arrived....TOPSHOP. Listen closely...you can hear many girls bursting out of their skin with excitement.  If you're in Melbourne today, you can visit the store located at the Jam Factory on Chapel Street for it's grand opening.
Now, how long do we have to wait until one opens in Sydney??? (rumors are it will be located in the Gowing's Building in Sydney City)

Rare Bird of Fashion - Iris Apfel

The latest IT girl Mrs Iris Apfel, actually she has been on the scene since there was a scene to be on.  90yr old Iris Apfel  is an amazing women in fashion, starting out as a copywriter for WWD. From there she moved onto creating textiles with her husband at their firm, Old World Weavers for the white house & clients such as Estee Lauder.  Iris became a permanent fixture on the New York social scene, often being photographed in the style section of the New York Times.   Recently when asked if she is ever tempted to say something to someone who she thinks looks dreadful she replied, 'Oh, now that would be horrible. It's a free country - if you want to look like a freak, that's your problem.'

LOVE HER.

The Dandies Are Back - Men’s Fashion Week Europe

I can't help but be captivated by men & women dressed in menswear.  Last week in Europe was a great  display of upcoming trends in menswear such as colour on colour, subtley clashing prints & the importance of the blazer jacket.

Twitter - oldmansearch

Ok, last post for today ;)
I couldn't help myself, this was too funny not to share with you.. A son has supposedly been teaching his 81yr old dad how to use the internet & has slightly misinformed him that twitter is how to search things on Google.  The below is the latest tweets/searches, but do check out the actual page as there are soo many more  https://twitter.com/#!/oldmansearch

Fashion Week - Kate Sylvester

So now to talk about the good that came out of Australian Fashion Week.. Kate Sylvester was one of these designers in my eyes.
She may not have been raising the bar in the creative stakes, but I still enjoyed her collection.  It was grungy with a touch of romanticism, I particularly like the vintage dress lengths & the cowboy boot detailing on the sides of the jumpsuits.
